I've been to Paris 3 times in the lasy 20 years. It is a unique and atmospheric city - even if I am a bit sick of it now. Yet watching the film "Ratatouille" made me yearn for it once again. Each time I've been, the sun had never really shone - but that doesn't really interfere with the great sites. And, yes, it is romantic...Please scroll down to view the images.

The unique Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris, so fantastically Gothic [Aug 1988]

The Eifel Tower in Paris. A thousand feet tall, the tallest structure in the world at the time. Built in the late 19th centurt and a feat of engineering. [Aug 1991] [Sept 1998]
A view of the River Sienne from the very top of the Eifel Tower, Paris. The views are brillaint. [Aug 1988]
Two more views from the very top of the Eifel Tower, Paris. On the left is looking towards the Military School and on the right is looking in the opposite direction towards the Trocadero. [Aug 1988]

Looking over the edge from the very top of the Eifel Tower, Paris, and simultaneously seeing cigarette ends 12 inches down and people a 1000 feet down. [Aug 1988]
Taken from the first level of the Eifel Tower, I liked the view of these typical Parisien apartments for the (very) well off... [Sept 1998]
A Notre Dame Gargoyle, looking over the city, presumably trying to look menacing but ends up just looking fed up [Aug 1988]
Underneath the Parisien streets lie long passages called the Catacombes - a huge underground cemetry from the late 18th Century, piled high with millions of skulls and bones, some organised into walls of bone, others just piled in rooms. It was a wierd place... [Sept 1998]
The Sacre Coeur Cathedral in Paris. Hugely impressive from the outside but even better on the inside - better in my view than Notre Dame's interior. [Aug 1988]
The Grande Arche de la Defense, a massive modern arch that mirrors the Arc de Triomphe (they are a few miles apart but in direct alignment) but is much bigger. It is a very impressive structure - you can get a hint of its scale as my wife stands under it. [Sept 1998]

A view from the top of the Arc de Triomphe. Many avenues radiate from the Arc which looks really great from the top - this is just 2 of those avenues. [Sept 1998]
The roundabout around the Arc de Triomphe was crazy - it was a car free-for-all and highlighted quite clearly why most Parisians take the Metro. It was quite entertaining watching the "no apparent highway code" driving. [Sept 1998]
