New York was the first city we visited and the first time we'd been to the US. My camera was even cheaper than the one I took to San Francisco, Las Vegas etc, so the quality is quite poor. It's also quite difficult to take photos in New York as everything is so cramped and, well, tall! I remember our first day - I spent most of it just looking up because I'd never seen buildings as tall as these before!! Please scroll down to view the images...

We took the subway to Brooklyn one day, immediately regreted it and started to walk back to Manhattan. I took no photos in Brooklyn as I already looked so much like a tourist without a clue that taking pictures would have been our end. It was a long (fast) walk back in humidity we had never experienced before but I did stop to take this pic. Of course, the skyline has changed since then.... [July 1994]
This pic was taken in Central Park. I cannot explain why I was compelled to spread my hands in a Christ-like gesture. Guess I just got carried away... [July 1994]
This pic was taken from the top of the Empire State Building. We went up twice, once during the day (when this was taken) and again at night time, where I proposed to my girlfriend. She said yes....well, more specifically "fine, okay then, whatever!" It was so romantic. [July 1994]
Long before any financial crisis or bank bail out, we took a trip to Wall Street. As you can see, the shutters were closed - I think it was a Sunday. [July 1994]
Sadly no longer with us, the twin towers of the World Trade Centre were, at the time of taking this picture, the second tallest buildings in the world (the record having been taken from them by the Sears Tower in Chicago). They were so tall when standing at their base, it was quite an experience to see them up close and I am so glad I did before they so tragically fell. [July 1994]
Not only were we lucky enough to see them, we were lucky enough to go to the top of the South Tower (I think) and take in the awesome views, of which this is one. This is looking east towards the Brooklyn Bridge. [July 1994]
This is another view from the top of the World Trade Centre, this time looking down on the financial district of downtown Manhattan. [July 1994]
This is another pic from Central Park. The main reason I like it (other than my wife's presence, obviously) is that the tallest skyscraper in the photo is the one we say every morning when we left our hotel. [July 1994]
Whilst waiting in a quiet lounge in JFK airport to go home, we spotted a Concorde just sitting there, no doing much. I must apologise for my clothes and hair but it was a long time ago and I didn't know any better. [July 1994]
