Just like Scotland, I've been to England so many times (I live in Scotland but work in England) but I don't have my camera as often as I should when I visit. Hopefully over the next few years, I can rectify that but here are some of my favoutite photos from the ones I have taken. I have also included Ireland on this page, mainly because I have commited the sin of not taking enough photos the 2 times I have been there to justify a page of its own! Anyway, please scroll down to view the images.

This is on the coast of East Yorkshire, not far from Scarborough. The cliffs are very impressive and home to a lot of very noisy birds [July 2003]
Taken early one morning, this is one of the many famous 'spires' of Oxford. This is one of the colleges of the University, can't remember which one, but it is a great place just to wander. I went to Cambridge about two years earlier but I don't have any (decent) photos from that visit. [July 1991]
This is the famous Bodleian Library in Oxford, a research library and one of the oldest in Europe, dating back to 1602. [July 1991]
These are two sections of Hadrian's Wall in the very North of England, just short of the border with Scotland. In Roman times, it effectively was the border with Scotland, as it was built by the Roman Emperor Hadrian to keep the Scots out. It is about 70 miles long, running from Carlisle in the West to Newcastle in the East. [Oct 2000]
The Clifton Suspension Bridge, Bristol. The most famous landmark in the city, designed and built by Brunel and opened in 1864 (after his death). [Oct 2006]
A 400lb Silverback Mountain Gorilla, enjoying his lunch at Bristol Zoo. [Oct 2006]
The Houses of Parliament in London, dominated by 'Big Ben' - a bell that sits at the top of the Clock Tower. [July 1995]
This is the sun rising over the sea on the coast of East Yorkshire. It was 5.00am and I had been up all night thanks to my daughter who refused to sleep at that time. I decided to go for a walk and take some pics. [July 2003]
The second time we went to Ireland, we stayed in a Caravan site just across the border in Southern Ireland. This photo is the border - on the left of the photo is Northern Ireland and I am standing on a beach in the Republic of Ireland. [Oct 2001]
The first time we went to Ireland, it was to Dublin. This is Trinity College in Dublin. [Oct 1999]
On our second trip to Ireland, we spent some time in Northern Ireland too. We went to Belfast, which was a lot nicer than I expected. This is the Cathedral in Armagh, a very imposing church indeed. The countryside in Northern Ireland is eyecatching and the farmhouses are all fantastic - money well spent from EU subsidies I am guessing. [Oct 2001]
Less than a mile from the centre of Birmingham, this is St Augustine's Church, early one spring morning. This church is set in a quiet leafy suburb, only 200 yards from Hagley Rd, a busy main route into the city. Talk about contrasts.... [April 2009]
The same church, viewed through some of those leaves of the leafy Birmingham suburb. [April 2009]
